Sketch Dailies

Part of my efforts to keep active with my art when I'm focused on other areas of my life like job interviews, supply teaching and studying, I've decided to join in the daily twitter drawing group 'Sketch Dailies.' As the name suggests, each day a new topic for inspiration is given via Twitter and people around the world sketch, draw or paint a response and post it.

Not only does it inspire you to do a little bit of art each day, but its also inspiring to see everyone else's interpretation of the day's topic and the virtual community of artists gives you access to follow other artists as well as promoting your own work. Use the hash-tag #Sketch_Dailies and @Sketch_Dailies to join in the art making.  

So far, I've completed one- Hercules, was the topic. I intend to post them here on my blog each day. I fear as the year goes on if I dont keep using it, I'm gonna lose it- so this is my way of keeping myself motivated artistically. And the best thing? There are no winners or losers, it doesnt matter if its crap- just as long as you have made the effort to do something each day to progress your art.

Lego-ized Family Portrait

This was a personal project for my partner's birthday. It's a lego-ized family portrait of him, me and his daughters (and yep that's me with the reddish hair). I created the illustration in photoshop on wacom intuos (small resolution for uploading).

Game of Thrones Fan Art

Decided to do some more Game of Thrones fan art, this time pushing myself to draw a male character (something I struggle with). The reference for this piece was a photo from the 2013 Entertainment Weekly Game of Thrones photo shoot. Character is Rob Stark, the King of the North. Created on Wacom in Photoshop CS3:

I completed this digital artwork for a friend who adores The Little Mermaid. Here is my WIP and finished piece:

Chibi Lich King

This project was a commission for a friend and took inspiration from three sources, from Blizzard's World of Warcraft Lich King:

The Chibi style was inspired by models  from the following book- here

And also by the simplified design of this Chibi version of the Lich King by Jeffrey 'CHAMBA' Cruz, see more of his work here.

As my version of the lich king was for a 5 year old I simplified the armour and the presence of skulls was kept to a minimum.
